The Safety Competition, is an annual competition for Scout Troops, where teams from each troop compete for the "W. J. Hamilton Trophy".
The ADC(S), will organise the competition, and may call upon the District Scout Active Support, or troop leaders on the evening.
Rules are very basic
Teams should be made up of 6 Scouts.
Only one team per Troop.
Scouts must arrive and depart in uniform.
In case of a tie, an inspection will be used as a tie-breaker.
The competition may test both theory and / or practical aspects of any matters of safety, both within the Scouting programme or from our normal lives. It may cover first-aid and health, highway and country codes, home and gardens, and scouting activities.
This year, the competition was held in the 48th Fife, headquarters in Dalgety Bay, with three teams taking up the challenge. The winners from last year (68th), retained the trophy, with only 2 points separating the three teams. The runners up were the 77th Kelty troop, with the 48th Donibristle Troop taking the bronze position.
It was a bit disappointing to only have 3 of the 9 troops taking part this year. However, hopefully, more teamswill enter in the future.
Many thanks are due to the 48th for the use of their hall, and to the Inch Scout Active Support for the welcome refreshments.
